We have already reported that in the 3rd and 4th rounds of the British Rallycross Championship in Pembrokeshire, the young and talented Roberts Vītols had an excellent performance, winning the Junior class. Vītols continued his winning streak at the “Biķernieku Motorsporta Festival”, winning the Super 1600 class. After winning the victory, the Go4speed portal spoke with Vītols, who looked back on this round. ”I had interesting feelings in training – the steering wheel of my car seemed heavy and it was difficult to turn it, because in England, when driving a ”Suzuki”, the corner is very easy to steer there (smiles). But I quickly got used to it and everything was fine. I made a small mistake in the first race, where I finished second, but I drove the next two qualifying races steadily and without mistakes, which allowed me to win. I also won a convincing victory in the semi-final. In the final, in the first three laps, I saw that my competitors were sitting close to my tail, so I increased my speed and pulled away. I also won at the finish,” begins Roberts Vītols. Although the success was achieved, the athlete was not completely satisfied with his performance. ”Biķernieki is a special track for me – I believe that this is a real rallycross track. Going to this track, the goal was to win all the qualifications, semi-finals and finals. Unfortunately, this time we failed in one qualifying race, so we failed to reach the maximum (win all races), which I am still sad about, because one small mistake spoiled a perfect result. I don’t like to make mistakes. But at the end of the day, we are the first, which is a joy. Thank you to the team, family for your work and support.” When asked how the athlete currently assesses the past season, Roberts says: “The season now looks a little more promising in general both in Latvia and England. In England, after the unsuccessful second stage, where I retired and lost a lot of points, we are back in the fight for the championship victory. I am glad that in the 3rd stage of the British Rallycross Championship we managed to win both the qualification, the semi-final and the final. My small goal before the season was to win all my races in one of the stages, which I succeeded in doing. So far everything is good, but the season is still long – there are competitions in both Latvia and England. There is still a lot of work ahead, but we will fight.” Vītols revealed that after the excellent stage in England, the athlete has received an invitation to compete in the new TitansRX championship in the Junior class. It should be noted that strong drivers are competing in this championship, where Topi Heikinen is currently the leader. In this series with the powerful ”Pantera RX6” is driven by such drivers as brothers Timmy and Kevin Hansen, Jerome-Grogier Janine, Haydon Paddon, Craig Breen, etc. ”After our excellent performance in the last two rounds in England, I received an invitation to participate in two rounds of the new TitansRX championship in the summer (two rounds are held on one track in two days), where I will drive in the support class together with the juniors (with my Suzuki car), which will be the show class. It should be noted that this race will be broadcast live on Eurosport.”
