Next week, the RallyX Nordic rallycross series will be held at the Biķernieki track in Riga, under the auspices of which the RX Academy races will also take place. The promising rallycross junior Roberts Vītols will also be competing in this event at the Riga event. Roberts’ father and manager Uģis Vītols explains: “Reinis Nitišs called and offered Robert a place in one of the cars at the RX Academy Riga event. After thinking about the offer for a while, we decided – why not? Thanks to Reinis for the call!” With the start at the Riga RX Academy event, Vītols completes a fairly busy season – his main program includes starts in the Super 1600 class of the Latvian Rallycross Championship and the Junior class of the British Rallycross Championship. Roberts is also scheduled to visit the next Titans RX event at the end of July in Lidenhill, competing in the British Suzuki Swift class. Vītols will not be the first RX Academy participant from Latvia. In the first season of the series in 2017, Mārtiņš Lapiņš also competed, taking fifth place overall. Currently, the leader of the RX Academy season is the Estonian Marko Muru, well-known to Latvian fans. The RX Academy series is mainly made up of young drivers who compete in the same Renault Clio RS RX cars.
