Roberts Vitols starts 2026 RallyX Season in the Netherlands

April 24, 2026

This weekend, the 2026 RallyX Championship season will begin at the Eurocircuit in the Netherlands, where Latvian rallycross driver Roberts Vitols together with Provento Racing Team and Team Faren will also be on the starting grid. The driver has previously competed at this track last season, securing second and third place finishes across the two race days. This year, the event will again take place in a two-day format, with one round held on Saturday and one on Sunday.

After returning to rallycross competition last season in the Supercar Lites category, Vitols quickly demonstrated his speed in the RallyX Championship, taking three victories and finishing third overall. Despite these results, the driver evaluates his first season in the category in a measured way.

“For a first year returning to rallycross and immediately stepping into RallyX Supercar Lites – yes, we achieved strong results with several wins and podiums, including a double victory at our home track in Bikernieki. The level of competition was also very high, with some fast young drivers currently competing.

However, I also know that throughout the season there were situations where I did not fully maximise my potential or show my best performance. It is difficult for me to accept that, because I see every race as a unique opportunity to demonstrate what we can achieve together as a team, and it is my responsibility to deliver that on track.

I am very critical of myself, as I always aim for the highest possible level of performance, and until I reach it, it is difficult to feel fully satisfied. At no point was it easy to come into a race weekend expecting immediate wins – at this level, results require a high level of commitment and precision both on track and in preparation.”

“Last season I gained many important lessons, especially from the races I didn’t win despite having the opportunity. The positive aspect is that I still see many areas where I can improve. If you want to fight for wins, every small detail matters.”

In the 2026 season, Vitols will continue his cooperation with the experienced Swedish team Team Faren. The team’s management and mechanics work daily with top-level World Rallycross drivers, and the team has achieved multiple victories and titles in international series.

“This year we will continue our cooperation with Team Faren. Last season we quickly found a strong working relationship and understood that we were in a very nice and professional environment. Going into 2026 it was very straight forward that we want to stay with Faren team and continue our great relationship. For this round in the Netherlands, we will lineup together again, and the goal is to continue progressing compared to last season.”

At the moment, the driver’s plan is to compete in the opening RallyX rounds in the Netherlands and Sweden, while the summer period will be dedicated to professional commitments and studies outside Europe.

In the Supercar Lites category, five drivers from four countries have currently been confirmed on the official entry list, although it is expected that the number of participants will increase with the addition of several experienced local drivers.

Additional interest is created by strong participation in other classes – World Rallycross driver Niclas Grönholm has confirmed his participation in the FC2 category for the Netherlands round, while World Champion Timmy Hansen will compete in the Sweden round.

Further motivation in the Supercar Lites category this season is provided by a significant prize – the championship winner will receive a fully funded drive in an FC2 car, considered the next step towards the highest level of rallycross. It should be noted that Vitols has previously benefited from a similar opportunity, winning the British S1600 Rallycross Championship and earning a fully funded Supercar drive, which he went on to win.

The races from both days will be available to watch live free of charge on the RallyX YouTube channel and social media platforms.
